Try VZ grips. They make a desert blonde.

As for the Kimber grips, Midway has them. Or, you can do what I did. Post a want to buy thread and see if someone will sell you the grips off their Warrior so they can get some VZs or Gunners.

I also got the Desert Blonde grips for my RIA. John just came out with them in the 320 style. I like 'em a lot!

Thanks guys, I think im leaning towards the Kimber pair, I like the way they look on a solid black gun, which is what I plan to do sometime in the near future to my springfield loaded when i get it in the next month or so.

Armed Ninja.... you should check out Gunner Grips, the grips that Kimber puts on thier Warrior series are the knock off versions of the Gunner's, also you can get Gunner Grips in Coyote Brown, which is a Brownish Tan that changes color depending on the light conditions, they also come in Black, Green/Black, and now they have a color called Ranger Green, which is supposed to be OD but I have yet to see them. Gunners are made of G10 which gives extremely positve grip on your 1911. Just my two cents, check out http://www.simonichknives.com/gunner.htm to see what they look like and how much they cost...

Personally, I would not put Kimber grips on a non-Kimber. That being said, the Warrior grips are G10 just like the Gunners. I don't know if they are knockoffs simply because they are made of the same material. The advantage to the Warrior grips is that they are made to be used with a bare hand and do not have to be sanded down. The Gunners are made to be used with gloves and a lot of guys have to sand them down for comfort. In fact, I think I heard something about them coming with sandpaper for that purpose, but I could be wrong.

The VZs are also made to be used with a bare hand. VZ is making micarta grips for Wilson Combat.

Anyone have any idea where I could get a pair of grips like that? maybe without the medalion? I just decided I LOVE that look better than the tan i was thinking about and want those.

Hey NavyGuy,

I want to turn my GI spec RIA into something like yours. I just bought mine and it shoots great. Nearly 1 inch groups at 20 yards with farctory cheap stuff! It is amazing. However, it badly needs a beavertail grip safety, new adjustable sights, and a new lighter trigger.

Could you tell me all about your modifications to your RIA? Which beavertail is has? Is it effective? What sights it has? Are they adjustable? Trigger?

Again, I would like to modify my ria just like you have done. Any help as to what and where to buy would help very much. Thanks.
