View Full Version : Guns I like
John

Since this is my own small corner of this site (or the Internet in general), I thought I would post here, pictures of guns I like. Usually, and given the Greek laws, those are not pictures of guns I've seen in reality, but pictures from the Internetor printed publications. A short description of each gun will be included.
And to start, here is my ideal revolver.
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g207/jeff1124/3py2.jpg
(initially there was another revolver posted here, that's why the rest of the thread may not look very coherent).
I've owned only one revolver during my life, a 4" barreled S&W Model 66. I've tried others as well, like Colt Pythons etc, but all revolvers tend to point high for me. This, together with the Greek laws which allow us only 2 centerfire pistols, made me to avoid buying a revolver again. This one though, has what I like. A 3" barrel with shroud, chambered for a respectable cartridge (although I do not like the recoil of the .357 Magnum). Perfect wheelgun for carrying. The only thing I would change, is to install a longer (lengt-wise) front sight, I think this looks our of proportions, with the rest of the gun.
It was found at the SixgunJournal.net.

Glad you liked it, John. I had a lot of fun working that article up.
I keep hoping Ruger will offer the GP in 10mm/.40 with moon clips. There are a couple of custom smiths doing that conversion, and the gun is certainly beefy enough to handle it.

John, does this mean you can have two 1911's and one 1911 frame with a .22 adapter slide installed?

John is that the Ruger SP 101? I have one with the 2 1/4" barrel and it is a fine wheelgun. You are right about the recoil in the small wheelgun with .357 mag is a bit much but not too bad. .38 Specials on the other hand are a dream to shoot

I'm not much of a weel-gun person either but if I did get one this would be it. Thought that you might like it.

No, it is not an SP101, it is a GP100.

We can own two centerfire firearms (revolvers of 6"+ barrels, pistols of 4"+ barrels, rifles (not semi-automatics)) and I think up to six rimfire firearms. So, I guess, yes, I can have two 1911s in .45 ACP and 9mm (that's what I have) and one 1911 in 22LR.

John I could not get the picture down small enough to fit the forum rules. If it is OK with you I will post them again but I do not know how to get the picture smaller. I see now it is a GP 100 (not that I doubted you) but I went back and took a closer look and compared my SP 101 to the screen.

I undeleted your post, the size of the picture is just fine. It's less than 800x600, so don't worry about it.

Thank you John I wanted to share my SP 101 and GP 100 with you all but did not want to break the rules of picture size.

John, I'm unsure about your laws over there, but my favorite handgun is the T/C Contender single shot pistol (It's the one with the scope on it). The gun has a 3/8 pin and the barrel swivels on it. You can change to another caliber in less than 2 minutes. It is very accurate. I own several different barrels for it. It is also super easy to clean!
The picture has several S&W handguns, Kimber pistol, Beretta pistol, Kahr pistol, NAA mini revolver, Ruger pistol, and the T/C contender pistol.

Hi
Have you considered a 22 mag revolver? It's no centerfire, but they can be fun to shoot.

John,
Where's the 4" 1911 on your list? We all know how much you want one ;)
John
29th November 2006, 15:09
Ah my dear Sir, not a 4" one, a 4.25" yes, but not a 4" one. That .25" makes a huge difference! Like that .5" when going from a real Officers to the newly 3" pistols. I need to investigate that, there should be some psychological reason why a tiny fraction of an inch makes so much difference in my aesthetics.

The way I shoot, I could'nt tell the difference between 3" and a long slide. Kudos on the site by the way. You are a gentleman and a scholar sir!

Though 1911's are my passion, my favorite carry gun is a S&W J frame...either a Model 60 or 642...of the 2, the 642 is the most practical due to weight, and its concealability...it's my everyday carry weapon, and no 1911 can be carried as discreetly as a J frame. ...and yes, that quarter of an inch makes all the difference in the world when it comes to Commander sized 1911's...that is why I don't have a SA Champion.

I'm new to this site & just reading up on some old threads.
I got rid of all my wheel guns except a Smith 686 (no dash) 6" & my Smith 642. These two will never go.

Hi
I shoot a "full size" 50 S&W on a fairly regular basis. I don't think I would want to put to may rounds through the pistol in the picture. To light .... :scared: There are also .357's that I will not go near for exactly the same reason.
