Took my new HP Standard to the range today and ran about 150 rounds through it. No problems. However, it sure feels different from my Mark III, and I don't mean just the grips. My patterns weren't nearly as tight, and the trigger didn't feel as smooth. I thought they'd be pretty close to the same. Also, I think my "mature citizen" eyes like the white paint on the Mark III sights better than the unpainted ones on the Standard. But I love the gun! Both are sure fun to shoot!! By the way, pictures of both are on the "Browning Mark III "S" Question" post.

Hi clughog,

I would dearly like to have a BHP Standard to accompany my MK III and have to settle with an older pre MK II Standard made in 1976.

Your new Standard is begging to be shot--a lot!

It will take quite a while to wear in the parts, but that's half the fun of shooting it!

I just bought the same gun a few months ago. The hammer was changed to a circle round type and I put the Trijicon sights on because the stock ones are not very good, especially with my eyes. The trigger feels fine now that I removed the mag safety.

Hey, Maverick! Got a picture? I'd like to see how it looks with those sights and the hammer change. I read a lot about the trigger pull, but I'm not ready yet to remove the mag safety. The more I shoot it, the more used to the pull I get...it's just different from what I'm accustomed to, but I've adjusted. I think the thing that is hardest for me to adjust to is the trigger itself--it's not quite as rounded as my Colt's and doesn't feel as smooth to my finger. Guess I need to use it more and "round it down" a little!

Sure. I don't have a pic of the top yet, I guess I should do some different angles. I like the sights and they are great at night.

Nice HP, Maverick! I do like these pistols a lot. I'm giving some thought to trying the adjustable sights on my next one (I already have two High Powers, but I'm thinking about another one!).
