alex30808:
Very nice! I had a buddy recently pick up an earlier (blued model), lightly used SA Loaded & it's a great pistol.

Well I guess I could have mentioned this last night...I have put over 40 rounds down range....I have only shot two other 1911 framed guns...a Kimber 9mm (not a 9mm fan) and another SA Milspec? it was olive drab in color...and shot great...but mine...is by far a better shooting/handleing pc...no DOUBT...wonder if it is cause this'un is mine..lol...I am now lookin at reloading data and such to get a good reload that will be easy on the pocket as well as the shooter..Thanks for the comments about it...I picked up another hand gun yesterday afternoon....it's a S&W 22a...shot it a good bit yesterday afternoon/evening...between me and my two boys...we put over 125 rounds down range....loaks of fun...

I had a Loaded parkerized also. After I swapped the FLGR for a G.I. plug and guide I loved it. I used to have a 22A Smith as well.

I've got one also. I have put about 500 rds through it and it just gets better!. Try lubing it with synthetic motor oil...it's amazing!
Have fun...

You lit the the tiny light in my head azspyder....The first time I took my new full size to range I had thouroghly cleaned it and applied a very light coat of high viscosity lubricant and I experienced a couple of minor failure to feeds. The last 2 times I have taken to the range I've lubed it with hoppes#9 which is much thicker and "clingier" and have had no failures. I thought it was working better because it was breaking in but I now beleive it is probably a combination of oil viscosity and wear. I will be trying your synthetic motor oil. Approaching 500rds through it. The more I shoot it, the more I love it. My first IPSC match ever is April 9. Can't wait

I'm a tad confused, and I really do not mean to start any trouble. But I would think that if the viscosity of the oil you use causes the gun to jam, you have some problem other than what you think. I grease the rails on my guns and have never had jams attributable to the grease.
Also, and again I may be wrong, but I have to ask: is Hoppes #9 really a lubricant?
I've used it as a cleaner, but I never considered it good enough to act as the only lubricant on my gun. Or is this a Hoppe's #9 oil?

I have a stainless model which I believe is more sensitive to lubrication (correct me if I'm wrong guys) and yes I have the hoppes9 lubricant (the can is like 10 years old, I ran out of the good stuff the other day) I am not referring to the solvent.

Okay (the Hoppes oil--I thought I had something like that 30 years ago) :D .
I still am very skepitcal that the viscosity of the oil will effect operation except over the long term. It may gum up a bit faster (though I don't think viscosity would effect that, other things specific to the oil might), but under a couple thousand very dirty rounds,? (at one shooting), I really can't see it having much of an effect on operation.
Lack of lubrication may cause seizing up (gauling of the metal) in a tight gun like a TRP. Even incorrect lubrication might, but the specific viscosity?
But hey, it is your gun, whatever makes you feel more comfortable is as important as anything else.
Please don't take my skepticism as anything other than curisosity (I am not trying to slam you in any way shape or form ;) ).

I have a brand new ss fullsize that the frame to slide fit was described to me by my gunsmith as "extremely tight". I wouldn't know because this is my first 1911. Brand new this gun had a lot of drag on the slide. Slowly letting the slide forward it would barely lock up. 500 rds later and a LOT of oil it has gotten very smooth and I am quite happy.

You might want to consider some molybdenum disulphide in your grease.
I say that becuse the properties of the molybdenum disulphide is superior to anything else I have heard of in prevent gaulling of the metal (gauling comes from similar metals in tight proximity, they weld together).
I just had a friend of mine's TRP seize up on him, and he used lots of grease. I got him some Moly to add to his grease when he gets it back from SA.
I am pretty sure someone sells some gun grease with moly in it (if your gun really is tight, it would likely be worth it!).
Good luck (I bet it shoots great!)
