I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the following three guns.olympic arms matchmaster 5",Auto Ordance 1911 SE standard and the Springfield GI 45 model5" stainless. I have narrowed my choices to these three.
If you think one gun stinks thats fine just please tell me why. On the same note if you think one gun is so great please tell me that also.
I have choose these three because of price and looks. Price is $6oo to $725.
I live in Adams County PA. So if there is any gun dealers who would have all three of these in stock so I could compare them side by side that would be great.

p.s. Thanks in advance.

I would get the springfield. Very nice pistol and at a nice price. I have never handled an olympic so I can't comment on them. The auto ordinace has lots of problems from what I hear. Check the forums hear to see for yourself ;)

If you have 600-725 to spend, I would get a Springfield Loaded model, If you can go up to 725, you could afford to get the Springfield Loaded model that has all of the bells & whistles!!! Why op for a GI series if you have that kind of money? I have seen a brand new SA GI stainless here locally for $439.00 and a new SA Mil Spec for $459.00 which has alot more features then the GI, my 2 cents worth!!!

shadowriderv:

Off the cuff: the Springer, but I agree w/ gqucool1911...the prices you quoted seem a little high for any of the 3 (though I don't know much about the Oly Arm's stuff price-wise).

Stay away from the Matchmaster........choose the Street Deuce, much better quality.

I wouldn't touch an Olympic/Safari Arms pistol.

Between the A-O and the Springfield, I don't know which I'd choose. I don't really warm up to either brand. For a few bucks more you could get a Colt Series 70.

I too think the price range is high. The AO should be under 500 the SS Springer GI shouldn't be much more than 500 maybe 550 tops. I don't have recent pricing knowledge on the Oly Arms weapon. Good luck deciding. I would buy the Springer but look at my Signature!

In that price range (roughly) you can get a Kimber, Mid range Springfield, Para-ordnance, or any number of better quality guns.

If you're looking at Oly stuff........look at either the Street Deuce or the Journeyman. They are not the same quality as the others..........

Oly's chief pistolsmith is Rick Neimer........he was the chief 'smith at the old Detonics........he was the one that came up with the Janus Scoremaster, and the Combat Master.

If it has the barrel protruding out from the slide, its a Neimer original and his stuff is second to none.

Wichaka, when I first read your reply I thought it said; If it has the barrel protruding from the side. I guess that "slide" makes more sense, huh?

Guess I should have said.......the muzzle of the barrel is a bit longer than the slide.
