Does anyone have experience with the "aggresive" checkering option Alumagrip offers over the "normal" checkering. I'm considering ordering a set of these for my SA Operator.

I emailed Alumagrips last night and Chris replied this morning with some information for me regarding the differences with the checkering. He said 80% of sales are the normal style while he actually prefers the aggressive. A shooting team he suppied uses the very aggressive style though they all wear gloves while shooting. He said if you have rough callused hands you may prefer the aggressive over the normal style, although he pointed out that they may become uncomfortable after a couple hundred rounds. I think I'm going with the aggressive option.

My only concern would be in carrying it concealed here in Florida. I usually don't wear a shirt between the gun and skin. Let me know how you like it. I hope to order a set when I get back from vacation.

That's funny to me about the vacation. Since up here in New England us "snowbirds" go down where you are in Florida. Where do Floridian's go on vaction anyway?

I am headed to Gordonsville, Va. while my kids are on Spring break. We usually go to the mountains or if we don't want to go to far head to the beach. I also wonder how cold the grips will get in the winter. I don't guess they would be too bad under a shirt though.

I might be also for a certain SA Loaded that will be headed my way early next month...

Chris accidently sent me the wrong set of "aggressive" AlumaGrips(had mag-well feature I didn't want). I liked the feel of them more than the regular/flatter checking(which is VERY nice anyway). He sent me the ones I wanted muy pronto/no problemo.Waay cool guy.
I wish he could make the Slimline grips with agressive checking. I really like AlumaGrips;got them on my Officer's model and Gold Cup Colts :) I dare say I'll put them on my next 1911,which I hope to be a McCormick Officer's Model Colt.....it could happen!

Let me begin by saying that I am not familiar with AlumaGrips. That said, one thing about the checkering has not been mentioned. I would think that a lot of the folks trying to decide between "regular" and "aggressive" checkering will be carrying concealed. I don't know how aggressive the "aggressive" checkering pattern is, but I can tell you from personal experience, sharp checkering will ruin the lining in sport coats and suit jackets. Just a little food for thought.

I've found that wearing a light cotton "wife beater" tank top underneath my shirt works well, even in the heat of Florida. They are thin enough so they don't all that much extra to to overall thickness of your clothes while providing a layer of protection between you and sidearm.

I think I'm going to order the aggresive checkering. I will not be carrying the Operator concealed.
