Was wondering if any of you out there could help out with pricing a 1990-manufactured Lew Horton-distributed Colt El Presidente .38 Super. I am in the market for this handsome gun and was wondering what a fair price would be for a gun that has been fired but in As-New condition. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Someone had offered you one such pistol for 1500$ or more. However, his post was removed because it violated the Forum Rules. If you want to contact him off line, please PM him, his user name is 19elevin.

According to the Blue Book, there were only 350 of them made and they originally sold for $800. The Blue Book doesn't offer pricing because there are so few. Going back into Colt .38 Super offerings, prices for "4th model" and "CS prefixes" run the same, at $1100 for 98% and $900 for 95%. Add 50% for nickel.

Then they list a Super Match .38 MS, manufactured 1961 with a total production run of 754 pistols. Price for 98% is $3,500 and price for 95% is $2,250

Hope that helps a little. For a pistol with such limited production, it's really worth whatever you are willing to pay for it.

There is one on gunbroker.com for $1700 and the reserve has not been met. Beautiful pistol.
