WOW Lynnie!!! That is a beautiful pistol. Congratulations, and I hope that you get it back soon.
...You'd better PM John and give him advanced warning so that he doesn't ruin another keyboard. :)

Bob Rodgers is an artist, of that I'm certain. This 1911 will be my pride and joy!
I will of course take excellent care of it while at the same time try to shoot it enough to just plain wear it out!

Beautiful gun ! I have a new Series 70 Government (blue) at his shop for his "Reliability Package" and a new trigger. I'm keeping the Colt look so no refinish but I can't wait to get it back from such a fine craftsman. :D

Just beautiful. The only thing missing is a range report. I'm sure there'll be plenty of time for that after you finish fondling it.

Wow.....Just Wow, There really should be a warning label or something to prepare a person before a picture like that just pops open. How about
"The content of this photograph is known by the State of Kaliforniastan to cause uncontrollable drooling accompanied by an increased heart rate and may lead to the spontaneous lightening of the viewers wallet. View at your own risk"
All the symptoms of the dreaded pistol envy syndrome!!!

I don't have it back yet. When I get it back and have all the 1911's together I'll post a family photo.
Range report to follow of course.

Thanks!
I just got home from work and the gun arrived today via UPS. It's even better in person than in photo's. This is so cool........I can't wait to shoot it, but then again it's almost a shame to shoot it..........nah......I'll shoot it a lot. I stocked up on Federal American Eagle and lead bullets. I'm set for awhile.
In case you can't tell............VERY HAPPY GIRL HERE!!!!! ( ;) Y ;) )

Joni Lynn
8th March 2006, 18:18
I guess it goes without saying that line isn't going to work right?
2 points for the effort though.
As soon as I get the other gun back I intend to run a lot of ammo through them. I don't have the Rock River or Les Baer broken in yet either.

Lynnie,
Doesn't it feel good to have one of your detail-designed pieces near completion where you know what you've wanted to have customized is exactly on the ball? I'm only really starting to understand that passion myself. There's not a doubt to the refinement and quality of taste and skill showing in your build and I'm excited because I know your love of both that specific Ed Brown grip safety and your appreciation for the finest caliber woods in your stock furniture choices. Both of those tastes you demand out of a quality custom piece are reflected well within the style choice of your current project pistol. The blending of the magwell to such perfection is very nice and the quality of work your smith is performing shows. Ultimately I can appreciate the passion behind the piece and surmise its shooting characteristics will be nothing short of the excellence aparent in the attention to detail as reflected in this shooter's asthetics.
On the side, I've still been keeping my eye out for these discontinued Ed Brown grip safeties for you and have yet to find one, so as always, good luck in your searching for them as it would be cool to continue to get a few extra in your stock-pile.
Keep on shooting, you scary thang you. LOL ;)
VERY NICE, Joni. If it gets mixed up in the mail and comes to my house I will return it after I shoot it.
Joni Lynn
8th March 2006, 19:28
I found some of the grip safeties. The problem seems to be that the series 70 versions all have a defect in the same spot and it's a big one that doesn't come out easily. I guess I can always get the grip safety with the speed bump and then knock it off.
It's comfortably locked away now with it's 1911 family.
Deacon Aegis
8th March 2006, 19:36
Aye, it's looking like knocking that speedbump off and getting a weld-fill if needed is gonna be the future for your preference there. I am curious what the defect you've found is, sounds like something to keep an eye out for.
Joni Lynn
8th March 2006, 19:41
I didn't find the flaw, the pistolsmith did. The first series 70 safety had a void in it, the second one also had the same but to a lesser degree. I heard from someone else about the same problem. The good news is that the speed bump can be eliminated and no weld needed to fill in. It's thick enough as is. (currently)

8th March 2006, 19:42
still sounds like way to much work for one person!! If you need help im only a shout away.I guess it goes without saying that line isn't going to work right?
2 points for the effort though.
As soon as I get the other gun back I intend to run a lot of ammo through them. I don't have the Rock River or Les Baer broken in yet either.

You're too anxious!
Deacon Aegis
8th March 2006, 19:49
That's cool news about not needing to fill in after a grind, makes the discontinuation of a favored part much less of a concern. Hmm, Ed Brown always struck me as a more superior part offering. I'd be a little miffed about finding a void in the part like that, but that may explain why the part was discontinued. Perhaps something about the particular dies they were using lended the part to be susceptible to that issue. Happens to the best, I'm sure.

I'm sure that it will be a pleasure to shoot this gun you've been waiting for and that's been built to your specifications. And that is a pleasure that belongs to you alone. But maybe you'll tell us about it afterward.
Shoot straight.

Morning Joni i gave you the night to sleep on that offer of marrying me. So i figure by now youve come to your senses!! As for my part in the prenups i will only insist on my choise of 4 guns when we seperate. Where else can you get a deal like that on a stud like me!! Better hurry though as im only shutting the waiting line down for one day and my wife to be is only giving me one day to talk you into it.
John
9th March 2006, 09:24
Lloyd, stand in line and don't hold your breath. Lynnie is not getting married with any one, and if she ever decide to do that horrible thing again, that does not mean that her man is allowed to touch her weapons. Part of the pre-whatever-you-call-it agreement.
I have a standing application with her, to adopt me, and I still do not have high hopes! :p
Lloyd Smale
9th March 2006, 17:53
Hell it dont hurt to ask!! She dont have to marry me just feel sorry for a good old boy thats down to only 7 1911s
John
10th March 2006, 03:59
Look who's talking? What can I say, with only two of them?
Joni Lynn
10th March 2006, 07:30
Two wives John?
'marry' is one of those 4+ letter words that give me cause to walk the other way...........quickly.
John
10th March 2006, 08:37
No love, not two wives. I've been stupid enough to get married three times, but having two wives at the same time!! No way!
And I know how much you love "marry", that's why I only offered to be ... adopted.

10th March 2006, 09:40
hell ill be totaly honest and tell you up front that all i want you for is a shootin partner!!!!! Well and to con you out of your guns too! Youll have to find a young buck to take care of arguing and the rest of the waste of time stuff that comes with marrige. It took me 50 years to find a women that leaves me alone with my shooting and hunting and doesnt say a word when i come home with a new gun other then "thats a cute one" Hell she even bought me one of my linebaughs! I do need another one to buy guns though as she says she done with that part of the relationship.

As far as sharing my toys? WHAT!!!! Do ya think I'm nuts????? ;)
