Cloudy Bluing

Is there any way to remove the milky-looking cloudiness that has shown up on my pistol's deep-blue finish?

Any idea what caused the cloudiness? Hard to say without more information. If the finish is damaged, a reblue would probably be necessary. Send it back to Colt for that.

BTW in the future, you might try giving it a good (thin) coat of car wax-- the hard, Carnauba kind, without abrasives of course (so, don't use anything that claims to "clean" as it polishes). That's how museum curators preserve fine finishes: wax, not oil.

Can you get a photo that shows the cloudiness? It would probably work best to take the picture outdoors under natural light rather than use a flash.

I hope to be able to post pictures soon. I have an old computer and don't speak the language well.
I think I know what you mean about not using flash. The milky-looking areas are not terribly noticeable at certain angles;so I'll have to experiment with the light.
Planning on taking lots of photos.
