Got a set of Nighthawk alumagrips for my TRP - The moon portion was very white. First time I cleaned my gun with them on, I used Breakfree oil on the outside of thegun after reassembly, and then wiped it down.

The moon area is a darker grey now, with more shadows on it. It looks a little more like the ones I have seen in the pics - it didn't have many shadows in ut before. But, I assume this is normal - the first time they are oiled they get darker?

Never mind. I used gun scrubber and they went back to normal :)

To whiten up the 'moon' spray it with Birchwood Casey GunScrubber or brake cleaner and then blow it off with compressed air (I use those small cans of compressed air that you can buy to clean off electronic equipment, lens, etc). This whitening is only temporary because the oils from your hands will darken the 'moon' again.
