I picked up a new baby the other day

Should be going to the range next week to zero it. I took the lower rail off to use on a bench rest.

Very nice. Good luck with it and let us know how it shoots.

I am not allowed to write the words that come to my mouth about our silly legislators here, who do not allow us to have such a gun!

Congrats!

Without that lower adaptor it looks like the SOCOM 16.

Think I could get a standard M1A1 and put the SOCOM II foregrip system on it? I am trying to figure out if I want to mod my SKS or buy something a little bigger/better.

Thankyou all. I'm really amped about the rifle.

You are making me jealous. I want one. Held several at SHOT, very cool rifle. ADaughen, you probably could put the stock and quad rail on a regular M1A. From what I understand, the SOCOM 16 and SOCOM II have less recoil and muzzle rise. I see a couple of my less frequently used rifles going away to help pay for one of those soon.

Very nice, thank you for sharing

Robert

I've actually read in an article where the muzzle actually dipped instead of risen. They say the break is extremely effective.

It's been long enough, we need a SOCOM range report with target pics!!!!

LOL, ok. I did finally get to shoot on Monday. Lets just say I had a constant grin on my face the rest of the night. Let me take a pic of the target and I will try to post it later. After I zeroed it in it was an absolute tack driver. I sighted both the iron sights and a Tasco Red Dot sight. My shoulder was a little sore the next day, but I love it.

Ok, here ya go.... After I sighted it in I fired 2 groups of 3 shots at 150 yards. 5 rounds were touching in the size of a quarter and had one flyer. They are the head shots. The chest shots were 50 rounds from my XD-.45ACP

That grouping of the .45 at 150 yards is quite impressive. :p

That is a pretty good grouping on the M1. Was that prone, bench, or ransom rest?

Sorry, I should of went into more detail about the .45. That was double taps at 15 feet.

The M1 was on a bench with a sandbag.

Yeah, but how hard is it to squeeze in that 13th round in those magazines? My wife's Taurus PT99 with it's 15-round magazine is a bear to fully load.

HAHA thats why they included a SPEED LOADER with the XD's!

When I shoot at the range I never load more than 6 rounds in the mag at a time. It gives me a chance to rest between groups and keep a clear sight picture. It also takes longer. I could shoot up a box in no time flat if I didn't.

My HK mags are easy to load up all 12 rds. The Para, though, is a pain on #'s 13 and 14. Buddy has trouble on round #13 in his Glock. Even with the speed loader.
