15th November 2008, 18:27
My new Rock GI. Bone stock, brand new.
Future plans include: Lightening up trigger pull, new grips, and shoot thousands of rounds through it.
I may also want to have my smith-in-law put tritium sights on it. But I want to wait and try it out for a few outings first.
17th November 2008, 09:26
I interpret this post to mean that RIA offers pistols that are finished with Duracoat. Could someone verify this. Please.
Here's mine :)

I purchased this a few weeks back and added the Altamont Wood Grips. A co-worker has this and a full size and had been raving about them so much I finally gave in. I put about 150 rounds through it Sunday, she shoots like a breeze! This is my daily carry gun.

10th December 2008, 10:44
2 months ago, I managed to get a stock colt .45 NM barrel from a friend. Thoughts came in to my mind to replace the barrel of my Armscor .45 ACP but the problem at first was, I didn't have any idea at all where to send the gun for fitting. Luckily, a client of mine mentioned he knows someone for the job. He even claimed that the guy can customized the plain barrel into a bull barrel. so, after a month of wait, here she is:
sorry for the pictures guys, I don"t have the photography skills...
Advance Merry Armscor/Ria Xmas to all!!!
Wishin' you many more Armscor's and Ria's to come!! :D

Here's my brand new RIA Tactical, just got her today (well technically yesterday since it's now 2 a.m.). Put about 75 rounds through it this afternoon and am in love already!

2nd January 2009, 11:15
Hello RIA Fans. Just posted my intro message in the General Discussion and wanted to say hi to everyone here with Rock Island/Armscor 1911s. This is my first one and have put less than 100 rounds through it with zero issues. I hope to learn a lot about the 1911 and this seems like a great place to start. I'm excited!
2nd January 2009, 13:55
First thing that had to go were the grips, replaced with some rosewood ones - second thing she needed was fluorescent red paint on the front sight.

I'm a Newbie, here. Here's my RIA... Yes, those are RIA grips! I swapped for them, at Buffalo Sporting Goods, Buffalo, Tx., off a NIB that wouldn't sell, for mine(the NIB sold in under 2 weeks, after the swap, but I got the better grips...). Bought and had Tritium sights from Brownells installed, 2-pc. guide rod and a Brownells 2-hole comp.(for added barrel end weight) that won't hold blueing... and a trigger-shoe for my long fingers.
7th January 2009, 21:21
Here's my 1st and only 1911.. And what I "think" is the first "Polished Nickel" RIA Government pic in the whole thread! Grips are from ebayer: "Gunsmoke101" No laughing at my picture takin skills! :D

17th January 2009, 11:47
Well My Christmas present to myself has a lot of meaning to me. I was raised in Rock Island, Illinois and learned to shoot with the NRA Junior division back in the 60's at the National Guard Armory which was simply called the Rock Island Armory. So when I decided to buy another 1911 the Rock had to be it!
While at my FFl I was contemplating changing the grips when one of the customers I know said "I like the grips on your 1911." I told him I was going to get Springfield GI grips for it, and he said " I have a set I'll trade ya even for!"
It shoots dead on at 10 yards, functions flawlessly and has made me a happy camper!
17th January 2009, 16:37
Here is my RIA Compact
17th January 2009, 18:39

Hi all, I'm new to both owning a 1911 and to the forum. Thanks all of you for sharing what you have learned, and your pictures. They helped me to buy a rock compact instead of the Taurus PT145 my friend insisted was a better purchase.Oh, here's a pic of my new rock!

Nice Rocks, entrefal, really like the last one, two tone and bobtailed.
Here's my Rock with its new grips. I really like mine though I want to add night sights and maybe get it bobtailed if I can find a smith around me that does the mod.
24th February 2009, 22:01
I picked her up a couple weeks ago on the strength of the postings here, and I'm in love! All broken in, and not a problem yet! :) :)
25th February 2009, 20:05
This has an ARMSCOR frame, but was purchased from High Standard. It has a forged Colt contract frame stamped Exercito Brasileiro. I picked it up yesterday for $495 OTD. That seemed a little high, but it was there, looked pretty good, and had great grips. The trigger rattles like crazy and is about 12 lbs (only a guess -- its heavy). I haven't shot it yet.

Can I play? RIA Tactical in Satin Nickel
28th February 2009, 18:49
Updated photo with new grips. These are the tan Operator knock offs on ebay... actually unexpectedly high quality. They are really a bit darker than the picture shows and I think I am going to take them a couple of shades darker with some Krylon Fusion khaki.
I might get flamed for buying the knock offs and supporting a blatant copy rather than buying the original VZ Operators. I was torn myself.
However, I initially bought the Rock Island because my gun budget is very tight and the Rock Island .45 represented a great value in a fine knock off of the original Colt 1911 - a gun I have wanted for many moons. I finally reasoned that it was not sound logic to spend the extra $$ on origninal grips for a knock off 1911. Either way, I am extremely happy with both the gun and the new grips. Flame on... or not.

Heres my new Rock all dressed up, and not one round downrange. Soon very soon......
22nd March 2009, 07:58
This is a long thread, and maybe I missed it, but was this gun Duracoated? If, so what color? I'm thinking about having my RIA that I have dedicated to a Kimber .22 conversion Duracoated in either Blue Titanium, Titanium, or Stainless Steel. The blue titanium would match up with my older Kimber Tactical, but I certainly like the contrast between the Stainless frame/blued slide, and Pachmayr American Legend grips.
It's been a long time since that one was done.
I believe it was KG Gun Kote in Dark Earth...
The Compact was KG Gun Kote in Titanium Gray
(That one I know because I just did it and have some left)
24th March 2009, 01:26
Here she is, Betsy. Got her about a week and a half ago.
The second pic is of Betsy with my other work tools. :)
Quick range report. 50 rounds of Winchester FMJ and 50 rounds of Lellier & Bellot, both 230gr. No failures, misfeeds, she shot like a fine tuned shooting machine, as well as being very accurate. The most fun pistol I've ever fired. I've alway wanted a 1911 and thanks to this forum and it's members I felt confident in buying my first 1911 RIA.

anyways i stripped it to get the oil out from packing and took the liberty of upgrading a few things.

Here's a picture of my GI Rock. Had it for over a month now and it has fast become my favorite auto hand gun. Put a hundred rounds through it so far and no failures. And I've never had this good accuracy with my other auto guns. We have ground squirrel problems around the farm and this gun is the ticket for the close range rats. Thought it was fitting to take this picture by one of their tunnel complexes on a rock they dug around. Now they fear the new Rock on the farm!

Well, I've already posted pics of my new RIA FS Tactical in another thread but I'll go ahead and post them here too since this is the photo thread. I received it last Friday (4/10) and I went out and put 100 rounds through her today (4/14). Perfect function with no failures of any kind and excellent accuracy!
Here she is...

19th April 2009, 20:17
Thank you much for the info... I can't wait to order my RIA Compact tomorrow morning... I already got my local gun shop to fax their FFL to Sarco Inc. $349.99 + $15(shipping) + $25(transfer) = $389.99(In my hands!!!)
The Rock Island Armory pistols are an EXCELLENT value. I'm thinking on a compact/Commander/Officer version of the 1911/.45 ACP. If I decide to go for one, it'll be a Rock. Years ago, I paid 291.00 for two Rocks, Bellshire, at auction... only after having read about them here, and having bought 3 Springers... one of which I had to sell... of course, that didn't include shipping to my FFL or his fee, but both were reasonable. Gave one of mine to my WWII decorated Army vet dad; didn't mean to win both, but did, and AM GLAD. I LOVE my RIA. It has been reliable, accurate, functional... from the first round. It's my secondary carry arm. I don't carry a gun that doesn't WORK. It works. Very well. The Park is very good, and I've got it well-conditioned; only the sights prevent it from primary carry/bedside. While I'm well-pleased with my Springer Mil as my first 1911, I'm also WELL-PLEASED to have my Rock, and I was proud to present my dad one as a Christmas gift.
They're not CHEAP. They're as good as any gun I have or have had... and frankly, my Rock is the least expensive of ANY gun I've ever bought, except my used SKS rifle and a couple of new Mossberg shotguns. And my Rock was NIB. Had several scoffers at first... which quickly converted to wanting to buy either mine or my dad's or both. Funny thing is... NOT FOR SALE. LoL!!! "I sure would like to have one of these"... well, yeah, find one yourself and good luck. Not easy in Texas: Bellshire, SARCO maybe, whatever. There you go.
Amazing little 1911s. Mine's basic but modified: has a S&A arched MSH with loop and Colt's mil-contract 1911A1 stocks, to make it a close second to a USGI M1911A1. While I LOVE those mahogany smooth stocks that came on mine, I hope to convert my dad's to the "M1911A1" over the Memorial Day Weekend. That's like what he was issued in 1942, and he's already in awe of that Rock that I gave him. And I will guarantee you that Armscor STANDS BEHIND their products here in the U.S.!!! Mine had a small problem, nothing that affected its accuracy or function and reliability, and unlike one American manufacturer, Armscor turned mine around in SEVEN BUSINESS DAYS. And it's worked as well after as before. It's my CONSTANT truck gun. And like as not on my hip when I want to give my Mil-Spec a rest. I KNOW it will WORK if I need it. Hope never to... but it's SO fun on the range: basic, functional, black, and reliable. Beautiful. Just like I like mine.
You take care and be safe, sir.
20th April 2009, 20:59
Here's my most recent photo's of my updated Rock GI, and my Rock CS.
The FS GI, has a modified Grip safety to allow the use of the Commander style hammer, and I installed Trijicon night sights.
My CS Rock has the beavertail grip safety and commander hammer, but the GI sights. I got it from Bellshires.
21st April 2009, 23:25
After two years and more, heeeeeeerrrrrrrrreeee's Fluffy!
A GI, and my first 1911. The hammer and grip safety are aftermarket, along with all the internal parts except the firing pin. I recently installed an arched MSH with a lanyard loop, but was having a hard time getting a consistent grip on the draw. I would occasionally fail to activate the grip safety, even with the "speed bump", so I went back to the stock part.
The grips are from SunCrafts.com, made in Thailand and sold on Gunbroker for less than $30. They're rosewood, but are red and streaky like cocobolo. I like the half-checkered, palm-swell right panel for it's grippiness, and the left-side grip is smooth and polished, with finger grooves and a generous "scoop' so my thumb can hit the mag release.
The skateboard tape was almost the first mod, and it will remain. Better sights are in order but I'm scared; the stock sights are POA/POI, so I'm going to be very particular about swapping them out.
Fluffy's fired close to 2,000 rounds now, and while not all have been trouble-free, most have; and more importantly, the last 500 have. She runs on Checkmate mags and Gun Butter, and feeds whatever I serve her.
Just for the heck of it, my EDC before I joined the 20th Century:
23rd April 2009, 14:34
yeah that would be extremely pimp. i also like the single action top break "Schofield" type revolvers.
and here's the most recent pic of my gun
To change out to my aftermarket hammer I had to buy a new hammer strut and hammer strut pin. So, I upgraded to the swenson model hammer strut and a wilson combat hammer strut pin. I think the hammer is a Wilson Combat as well, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
PS, how do I get those smaller holes toward the back of the trigger to not show? does it have something to do with that little alan screw that came with the trigger?
23rd April 2009, 14:43
and another with the front strap grips.... sorry they're bad cell pics.
24th April 2009, 18:52
I blame this forum for last night's purchase. I haven't read much on the MS, and know nothing much about it, but now I own one. So far, so good, one magazine without problems, and a better workout scheduled this weekend.
24th April 2009, 23:06
Here's my RIA Tactical Full size.
http://webpages.charter.net/fredaskp/Pics/1911/Left.JPG http://webpages.charter.net/fredaskp/Pics/1911/Right.JPG http://webpages.charter.net/fredaskp/Pics/1911/Rear.JPG
Modded it with Tritium sights, S&A magwell mainspring housing, Hogue Laminated Rosewood magwell grips (don't care for them much, anyone know where to get some like the deep red Chip McCormick rosewood grips in magwell style?), Ed Brown extended mag release and Wilson combat "cheesegrater" checkered front strap, so far.
26th April 2009, 18:35
Some times, I can't leave things alone. Changed the stocks and the mainspring housing, and I think it looks better now. Shoots fine too, just gave it a good workout.
Next change will be a Commander style hammer. An appropriate color/colors of Gunkote will happen some time this spring or summer.
Anyway, it looks different enough now that I am going to post a new pic.
26th April 2009, 21:03
New to the site. Thought I would share a pic of mine too.

My RIA Tactical wearing VZ Alien grips
28th April 2009, 11:38
Ok guys, here is mine... still haven't shot it yet, but hopefully today it's the day (I'll post a range report when I get back).
So far the only thing I've done it's polish the barrel, later I do plan to get an aluminum to match it's new looking barrel and a nice pair of sights.
29th April 2009, 16:19
Finally, got the old RIA GI modified. I fitted a beaver tail grip safety which was nerve racking at first but I got it done and I don't think it turned out too bad.
In addtion to that I replaced/added the following parts:
Trigger: C&S Medium Aluminum Solid Round Face w/Over Travel Stop
Recoil Spring Plug: Ed Brown
Magazine Catch: Ed Brown Checkered Magazine Catch (Drop-In)
Mainspring Housing: Ed Brown Blue MSH. Flat style with Chainlink Treatment
Thumb Safety: STI Single Sided Extended Blue thumb safety
Sear Spring: Cylinder & Slide Light Pull Sear Spring
Slide Stop: Cylinder & Slide Machined Slide Stop w/Serrations
Hammer: Advanced Tactical (Armscor) Commander Hammer
Grip Safety: Advanced Tactical (Armscor)
Grip Panels: Nighthawk Custom Gator Back Grips
Front/Rear Sights: LPA Target Sights
Grip Screws: Kimber (Hex Head type)
Finish: Mac's Shootin' Irons TG-1 Black Finish
Now I just need to go out and shoot it.
1st May 2009, 00:43
Yeah, it's me again... I received a nice pair of grips today from Coltaholic, and here they are!
Thanks again Coltaholic!

Is it fair to post a new picture if all you have done is change the sights, stocks, hammer, grip safety, and slapped on some Gunkote?
If so, then here is my MS again. Now I have sights that I can see!

Greetings to All:
I am a new RIA 1911A1 owner. I just purchased mine at a gun show last weekend.
I am very pleased with this weapon so far. The fit and finish are very good. I am going to try to post a pic.http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww96/DavidJG/1911A1-01small.jpg
I will try to post some target shooting results as soon as I get a chance. I have to tell you all that one of the reasons I purchased the RIA is because of all the information available through this forum. Thank you all for your posts.
4th July 2009, 07:02
Here's my new RIA. Got a great deal on a very nice weapon. Couldn't be happier with it. Shoots well and looks great too! I see another in my future. I've only shot about 100 rounds through it in the last week but no failures. It should only get better as it breaks in.http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/jaimie770/CIMG0120.jpg

How about a few more pictures of that handsome Rock. Who did the serrations on the front of the grip frame and is that a Yost rear sight I see? Also who applied the Birdsong Black T for you???
Oh again....that is a handsome Rock you have there!!
Hi there TEX,
Yes that is a Yost Retro rear sight. Walter Birdsong's shop applied the finish. Great Stuff! The 'smith that applied all of the add-on is no longer in the business, and I can't remember his last name. First name is Jimmy. He used to work out of A&P Arms in Virginia Beach.

New Grips (thanks to someone on here) and new leather (thanks to ebay guy) - not new just new to me.
21st August 2009, 20:20
Well guys, my range report is not good. The pistol performed well but I did not. First 100 rounds and no real problems with the weapon. But, as someone else on the forum said, I could probably hit the broad side of a barn but I would have to be standing inside the barn!
21st August 2009, 20:23
I need a lot more practice. My groups at 15 yards were about 1 inch high and 1.5 inches to the right.
24th August 2009, 19:56
100 more rounds and I'm starting to get the hang of it. My 15 yard group were fitting nicely into a 3 inch circle (with a few fliers) and I even had a few bullseyes. I obviously need to shoot a lot more but I may also take a look at other sights. Moving out to 25 yards I started to shoot about 2 inches high but my windage was still symetrical.
26th August 2009, 18:40
Sorry about that, make those 15 yard groups 3 inch radius = 6 inch circle.
I reread that post and realized that I misspoke! That would really have been some good shooting!
27th August 2009, 11:09
Brand spanking new... I'll get some pics up after i do some work on it.
28th August 2009, 17:34

Started out as a RIA FS Duracoat in black. Added the Wilson beavertail and hammer and I made the bushing/compensator.
KG Gunkote in Satin Black and Brushed Stainless.
Grips are factory plain ones that I laser engraved along with laser engraving on the slide.
Auto Mag ?? Are those a factory grip that was available on the Target Model?
I have never saw the green before. I like it on the stainless!!

I picked up this little darling this morning. I saw it in my favorite toy store yesterday and it was all by itself in a glass case full of plastic abominations. I just couldn't leave it there like that.
This is my 2nd 1911. my other one is a Kimber Custom II. I'm very fond of my Kimber but I have to say that this RIA is shaping up to be at least as accurate as the Kimber. Out of the first 75 round I ran through it today I had 2 FTFs on the last round in the same magazine and I've seen that before with that mag.
I am very happy with this gun and if it proves out as reliable as it is starting out will likely make it my regular carry piece.
12th September 2009, 19:09
Wylie, thanks for the tip on the screws for the grips!
I coated the beavertail to finish the theme.
12th September 2009, 21:20
That is a beautiful weapon! Great work. Are you a gunsmith?
20th September 2009, 09:29
Here's a couple pictures of my RIA 1911. Only the frame and slide are original. Every part is either Ed Brown or Wilson Combat.
I hope I'm doing to pictures correctly and thanks for looking!

Also has tricon night sights, EGW oversized FPS (radiused) and CTC lasergrips.

Hello PU Friends,
This is my first Rock!
It's a dura-coated Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical model.
It was very "soupy" when I got it; LOTS of oil. So, when I got it home, I completely disassembled it and cleaned it up.
Of course, I couldn't leave well enough alone...So, out came the Dremel.
In short, I polished some of the factory components to an almost-mirror finish, using a fine and then very fine Cratex spindle, and then hit the areas again with some Flitz on a polishing felt wheel.
Then, I added my favorite type of pistol grips...Hogue wrap-around grips. They feel great!
I'm real happy with it.
7th February 2010, 03:38
I know a lot of yall've seen this already. I figure i'd put it in the official picture thread though. My Full Size Tactical. In full two-tone, refinished it in silver gun-kote myself. My one and only pistola for now. Usually my main home defense tool, aside from my Mossberg 500.

Nice picture, nice grips.Your right, simply effective.
I just got these grips in the mail today from sportsmansguide.com
They are Hogue and come in Hogue retail plastic packaging.
I have the wood grips on my Armscor pistol, but I just thought I'd try
these for at the range. The wood is very nice, both my AC2 and Citadel
have the same grips. Does anyone know what kind of wood the stock grips are? These two pistols are so beautiful and feel so similar, I would swear they came off the same assembly line. My dealer Matt McBirney at FMF-Tactical.com has knowledge of the two companies, in the Philippines. They are very competitive and although the importers are friendly (per Ivan) that's where it ends, I am told. I would hope that one day, they will be able to increase their import numbers.
26th February 2010, 21:47
Im not in Cali, Im near the Mississippi river. I saw a Charles Daly at Cabelas the other day, and it looked good too, another Armscor gun. Their gun has wider serrations. I have a problem with a slippery slide, so the front serrations mean a lot to me.
I am going to move out of here, maybe Nebraska, or Kansas.

Finally got my RIA Compact today! I work at a pawn shop that is a registered FFL and had been asking my boss forever to order one of these. Of course, he waited until after I bought my Ruger SR9c (very hard to find) he brings two of the compacts in.
Well, I caved and bought this one too, and am not disappointed at all.
Question, the manual says that GI sized 1911A1 magazines will work in this gun. Is that true or are there guidelines for guarding against jams, etc.?
Thanks! Glad to be on this forum, always a wealth of info :)
17th March 2010, 20:47
New Rock Island owner here. My second 1911 that I own, first being a loaded springer full size. Awesome boards you guys have here, they are a wealth of knowledge indeed. The support and fans of the Rocks convinced me to dive in. Can't wait to hit the range and put her through her paces.
Will be my carry piece once properly broken in and proven 100% reliable. Thinking about maybe adding a tritium post on the front, anyone have experience in this department?

First off, I apologize for the picture containing weapons other than the RIA M1911 but I had to have a friends wife take them for me and I need a picture of the AK for another forum I belong to. I like my weapons simple but practical and made of Iron & Wood. Below is my MAK-90 with a Tapco Folding Stock and Tapco 30rd Mag. I have a pistol grip on it from UTG but plan to swap it for one from Hogue soon. The pistol is a Rock Island Armory G.I. M1911A1 and the knife is a Camillus USMC Fighting Knife (Not K-Bar Brand).

here's my FS tactical, Thor. He has a TRG tick rail and an E. T. G. model XP-6E tac light/laser combo.
you can also see the new nitesiters luminescent dots on the rear sight. When I showed it to my wife she said, "all dressed up and no one to shoot.
Here's a view that shows the light and laser
can you imagine a bad guy getting this view of your Rock?

My new Rock Island Armory Tactical FS in matte nickel.
Stock, no longer a virgin:
Those factory grips just leave a lot to be desired. The flat, checkered mainspring housing was also digging into my palm at the bottom.
At some point I'll get some custom grips with a personal symbol, but in the mean time, these are incredibly comfortable, and I think they look good. The combination of new grips and a curved housing created a whole new gun in my hands, and for the better.
And one more photo, hope the mods don't mind. I was bet that I couldn't shoot a hinge off of an old door in the backyard from the porch we were standing on. We were about 80-90 yds off, and about 8 feet up. It took me 3 shots, as I had to compensate for the gun (or me?) shooting low and left. The third shot tossed the hinge into the woods, and the casing landed on the deck:
Pretty neat, huh?

I have sent it off for Cerakote and got word Friday that it was ready to be coated. I hope to have the bill by this friday and the parts back by May 8th.
It will be Pearl Ivory slide and OD Green frame. Polished addons and a set of Ivory polymer Punishers similar to the OD Green ones above. No magwell.
I have put the above grips and magwell up on eBay as a modded set, as they will not go back on the gun.
I will post pics when I get the gun back and re-assembled.

Here is my newest build up gun.
First things first - fire it, then get better grips, then get better sights. Then shoot more
The flash on my camera phone makes it look green, but its all black in the light of day (and especially without it).

The 1st post was showing my NEW RIA Tactical 2 tone (matte nickel/park) 1911 that I picked up about a week ago. Just shot it off today, ran 80 rounds thru it and I like it very much.
Here are my other assorted small arms:
All 3 together (Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum in Stainless Steel 6" Heavy Barrel, RIA Tactical 2 tone 1911, and a Stoeger/Beretta Cougar .40cal 3.6" barrel)

Hello, this is my first Rock Island and first 1911 at that.
When my buddy showed me his and said that it was made in the Philippines I instantly had the need to get one. 1 year passed and 2 gun shows later, I just couldnt gather the funds together for what the shows were asking.
I saw a local shop advertising one on backpage.com and I went to take a look. After talking with the shop I ended up leaving empty handed again.
Later that day I received a check in the mail for having too much funds in the escrow account so I cashed it right away and drove 50 miles back to the shop and pick it up.
Here she is...

I do believe I'm going to call this done. Finally. I know I've said that before, but it finally fits perfectly and feels right.
The only thing I might do in the future is to recess behind the trigger guard, but I'm really wanting to start a new project pistol, apply better what I've learned, and eventually end up with a pair and a spare. The g/f wants a 1911 as well - she likes the trigger - and I might build her one. (I asked her if she had trouble with the recoil as she just really loves her .22. Her answer: "I'll get used to it." I also mentioned that they make them in 9mm. We'll see.)
This pistol has heavy duty everything, and there are no MIM parts present any longer.
This is the first $1000 Rock Island Armory 1911 I've heard of. The benefits of having a good carry piece as well as knowledge are worth every penny.
Built by me for me, and I'm a lefty.
You'll notice that the right side safety lever has been modified. This was to let it clear. You see, I got carried away with getting a high hand hold - and it works. Recoil is practically straight back, and the pistol is much more controllable than the 9mm Taurus 92 I carried for 10 years - and this is when loaded with my own special hot handloads.
The back of the slide is melted.
When I was practicing malfunction drills, I noticed my hand was getting chewed up from striking the back of the slide. I broke the edges with a file, polished with 2000 grit sandpaper, fit and EGW heavy duty extractor just as a matter of course, and refinished the whole works. Even the top of the firing pin recess is radiused toward the rear sight - I don't know if you can see it in the picture. Seems to depend on the monitor used to view. But it's at least as smooth as glass, and I'm thinking about doing the rest of the slide like this - the front is melted as well, but not as well as it could be.
The next build will be similar, only I will probably base it off of a Springfield GI and use Hogue grips. As well, it will be finished in something tougher than traditional bluing. Already had extensive talks with Erickson about that one. I am enamored with Cerakote (he sent me a couple magazines coated with the stuff, and I've not been able to damage it at all, even with heavy use).

Junk cell phone shot. From seven yards, offhand, 16 shots with Federal Champion. Not bad for my second time out with the gun. If I was attacked by a big paper target in a dark alley, I'm totally confident I'd handle my business. I think my trigger pull is making flyers.

currently have 600 rds through and added hogue grips. next step is to add some ss parts, (slide release, ambi-saftey, hammer, trigger)
