Hey guys i have been reading these fourms for quite awhile and today i got around to registering. I'll start by telling you i have been shoting the 1911 since i was 12 which puts me at almost 12 years with the gun and it is one of the best guns i have ever shot. I just got my first 1911 (i have been shoting my dads springfield which is a pin gun, and one of my friends old ww2 colts). When i turned 21 I made the mistake of buying a taurus pt145, i put nearly 8000 rounds though (only 2 jams) it and the recoil springs started to crap out on me. I called taurus they said send it in, but the operator would not confirm that i my pistol would be fixed for free nor would i get a confermation number so i would know when pistol got there so i traded it in on a used milspec for 115$.
That was about 3 weeks ago, since then i have installed a 2 piece wilson gide-rod, ss barrel bushing, ext slide release and an ss over sized mag release, i have also polished the feed ramp and barrel. My plans for the futur include
sti-mainspring cap titanium
sti-hammer strut titanium
smith and alexander-bevertail for springfield
ed brown-mainspring housing/mag well
nowlin-trigger job
wilson-extactor
wilson-ejector
i was wondering is any of you guys had tryed any of these parts and how they worked out
Also i have a question about grip screw bushings, I could only brake one of the loose and it just turns, any ideas????

Been working on quite a few SA's lately.......
The ejectors on the SA's aren't bad.......I've been using Wilson Bulletproof extractors, they're one of the best.
As for Nowlin trigger jobs........I've tried a few of the kits. But if you have the tools & know how, I'd recommend Browns Barstock Hardcore Hammer, Nowlin Pro Match sear, and either a Briley or Nowlin disconnect. All the parts mentioned are steel......not cast, MIM or anything else inferior.
Have used the S&A grip safety, they fit great.
Happy 'smithing.......

Ok guys i got all my parts put them in and i only had 3 parts give me any problems one was the wilson sear seems the the axess of the hole was about a degree off and the thumb safety needs to be notched about .5mm (it was making contact with something which made it not engage all the way and you could pull the trigger while the safety was up, yikes!!). anyway got it all worked out i'd say it has about a 3 3/4 pound trigger, also the trigger was about .07mm to large and it was titianium so i had to use a diamond cut off wheel to bring it down. again everything worked out.
This is my dream gun and boy is it shots like a dream to
P.s. anyone want to buy a new wilson sear lol
