Anyone have a Norinco takeoff barrel they would like to get rid of?
Have one that was in a fire and is now soft. Would like to replace it.

Hello Ken,
I offered one to Tuner a few days back. So far, I haven't heard from him. If he passes on the 'Rinco barrel, its yours. (gratis).
Didja ever install that EXP mainspring in your OM?

Ken, this barrel was a 'take-off' that was replaced by a Kart 'E-Z Fit' that I managed to fit to the 2nd barrel lug rather than the 1st. The Kart, although fitted kinda loose and to the second lug was/is much better than the Nork barrel that I'm offering you.
The headspace of the Nork barrel was within normal tolerances (per Johnny) but not by very much. There is also slight face battering, but no chrome plating chipped off.
It might fit completely different on your frame but, thats the way it is/was on my frame/slide (SN 502xxx).
I wanna keep the bushing, link, and pin, but, assuming Tuner doesn't need it, its yours for the asking.

If you can't find one, You might try Numrich Arms or Gun Parts America.

Thanks Salty, I would love to have it if Tuner doesn't want it.
Naw,have not done anything with the O.M. Kinda got disgusted with it. Did get an oversized Firing pin stop for it but have not tried to fit it yet.
Pinched a nerve in my shoulder and can't do much of anything right now, even sleep.

Hey guys!
Salty...Sorry I didn't get back to ya on that barrel. I'm plumb covered up here. Go ahead and send it to Ken. I'm fixin' to get my lathe squared away so I can make some proper slide gauges...unless I can track down the snake who "borrowed" mine and never came back...or wrote...or called...
Ken...Check the static headspace on that barrel. It'll probably give up a different dimension in your slide than it did in Salty's.

Ken,
Send me a PM with mailing address..The Nork barrel will be enroute by USPS the next day. I like my OM (finally, thanks to Johnny), but it was kinda disappointing (and expensive) for about ten years or so. Now it runs like the proverbial Timex.

Don't know why everyone has trouble fitting barrel lugs to a 1911.
Just heat enough to make barrel soft and fire a few rds. Soon the lugs will all be in contact with the slide  :scared:

Barrel will be enroute tomorrow morning from USPS sub-station. Remember what I said about the headspace. It was OK in mine, but not by very much. I wanted to fool around with the Kart 'E-Z Fit' barrel anyway, and that was as good an excuse as any.
I still haven't got it straight in my head how I managed to fit the dang Kart to the second lug. Maybe some of Earl's Karma finally caught up with me.
Let me know how it works out for you. I'm paticularally interested in knowing how you decided which link to use.

Wasn't your fault, Salty. Just the way the slide and barrel specs fell. That's the drawback of the overlength barrel hood fit method. Tight horizontal lockup, but on which lug? Some slides spec to let the first one hit...some don't. Ya don't know 'til ya gauge the slide and barrel to see who hit John.
