Guys, just want to know when I need the Parkerized finish needs refinishing? I live in a tropical country and I think Parkerized finish is more appropriate but hard chroming is still on my list. Any comments/suggestions?

I would think it would all depend on you personal allowance of wear, but if it is normal use and has worn thin and or bare metal is exposed in a great amount anywhere but the slide/frame contact area then I would think it was time.

I would wait to do it after it looks really bad with lots of white metal showing as Hawk1911 said.

Pepe, All y'all...

I have two Parked 1911A1s: a Springfield Mil-Spec (which I'm having a minor issue with) and a Rock Island Armory, from Pepe's homeland, which I have NO issues with--excellent gun! Also gave my dad a Parked Rock for Christmas.

Considering the possiblities for refinishing. I like hard chrome, other than its brightness. Found another company here on John's website, Bear Coat, and I like their Gray and Satin Black finishes. I messed up my Ruger P90 last year, it still functions well, but, don't like it at all, with a refinisher. Shipwreck, a member here, has had some probs with refinishing a Springer TRP.

What do y'all recommend? I may wait until my two Parked ones get some holster wear... but, still... have a Taurus 9 that's blued, that I love. All mine are 100% functional out of the box, but, still, wish to keep them all, and maintain them well.

Y'all be safe and take care.
Mick
