I was looking at the manual for my Government Model, and right on the cover it says it's for Series 80 and Series 90 guns. I know what a Series 80 is, but what is a Series 90? This is the only time I've ever heard of it.

My 3" Colt Defender says "Series 90" on it. Frankly, I think it's something that Marketing came up with because it’s pure Series 80 inside! ;)

Marketing, probably denotes the enhancements such as low mount sights and drop in beavertail grip safety, undercut trigger guard, and the series 80 firing pin safety system. But, I could be wrong, I think that has happened once or twice.

It could be the 1991 Series guns. Those are Series 80 on the inside and unfinished on the outside! ;)
