One of the local gun shops has a NIB Colt XSE Combat Commander, stainless steel, novak type sights, front cocking serrations, ambi safety, full length guide rod, VERY NICE for 839.00$ Is this a fair price or do I need to keep looking!

Recently I saw a LW XSE Commander that the dealer said "he'd take $700.00 for" which I thought was surprisingly low. My guess is that's not a bad price for an XSE.

Hersh, got your PM, I will check BullsEye out next time I get up there, thanks. I went back and did some trading, had a Marlin Guide Gun 45-70 with Leupold scope that has been sitting in my safe a couple of years, bought new and never hunted with it. Made a deal and brought the Colt home, I LIKE it, will post a pic soon.

'Looks great ... you did well ! You might need to wait for the thaw before going to the range. My club IDPA shoot was cancelled today.

I am usually at the range at daylight on Sunday mornings, today the temp is 24 with a 14 wind chill so I think I will wait awhile.
Hey John, what is the temp in Greece today? I know you can have only two handguns over there, what brands do you have?

Oh well today is kind of chilly, right now temperature is about 15 Celsius, which is about 59 F (5:45 pm). It was much warmer yesterday and sunny, today it's cloudy.
As for my toys, a Colt and a Springfield.

I have this XSE Lightweight Commander:

It's sitting in the back/'bottom of the gunsafe waiting for my turn so Stan Chen of Legacy Custom Can work his magic on it--I'm still about 2 years out.

It looks perfect to me. I wouldn't change it a bit. What else does it need?

It needs another one to keep it company in the safe.

I have been thinking seriously about getting a Colt Commander. I currently have other 1911 style pistols in that size, such as a S&W 1911SC, but currently no Colts. Anyway, since I have been looking I have seen prices between $680 cash only for "lightly used" ones at a gun show to $889 NIB from an old, respected gun store in my area.
If I get one I will probably go with the gun store because I know were they will probably be in a few months or a year. Also they let you put one quarter down and pay the rest off over 90 days, which works good for me esp. since I can use plastic if I get impatient.

swampertwo, That is a much more rare XS model as oppose to the current XSE line and I'd leave that one original. They were only made for a short time (1-1.5 YEARS) during 1999-2000. You can tell because it has a different rear sight and a Caspian like grip safety.

Sharp eye there Whitey019, the safety is also different than on the new ones. I know, I have one. I'm with you on this one, keep her original.
Sweet!

I missed the safety, but it doesn't look right, but then they mix-matched at times during that period.

I've been looking at the XSE Combat Commander in .38 Super and my dealer says he can get it for me at $795 +tax. I'm thinking seriously about it. I saw some in .45 at the last gun show for $800 and will look again at the show tomorrow. I really like the Commander size.

Good eye and good advice. I retired mine after I posted pictures on here and was reminded about the rarity of them.
Gee, I guess I'll have to buy another Colt. And another.....
You guys are a bad influence. ;)

:butthead: Guess I'll just have to make do with the Enhanced stainless Combat Commander and the blue Enhanced Lightweight Commander in the gunsafe--but maybe I can find another Colt I "NEED" :D
