I just replaced the FLGR in my 5" Springer with an Ed Brown standard plug and guide setup... my question is, do you guys think the FLGR is worth something to someone? I'm not going to use it, so I thought I might as well sell it or trade it for something or other...
Whaddya guys think? And if it is worth something, how much?

I'm not sure. I got mags, a holster, a decent case... the only thing I really need for her is more mags and ammo I guess... Again, I don't really know what the FLGR is worth... The only other thing I'd be looking for are the things I don't know I need... Are there any parts that are a *MUST* switch out on a stock Springer Loaded? I'm fairly new to the whole 1911 scene, so I might have missed something... but generally I'd probably say more mags and ammo are the only things I need equipment wise...

I would just shoot the gun, and go from there.
I have a loaded that I changed out all the MIM stuff for solid steel stuff.......but that was my choice.
I can get full length guide rods for 15.00 and up.........and I have lots of parts and pieces........or just buy it outright.......your choice.

If you don't mind my asking, why would you change you FLGR out? What benefit would you see in the change? My Colt XSE came standard with the FLGR, so I haven't messed with it. Have you fired your 1911 to see if it still functioned reliably after changing it out? Just curious.

I'm going to fire it Saturday, but I know the reliability hasn't changed... I just don't see the need for a FLGR. There's not enough room for the spring to do anything other than compress the way it is supposed to, and it's just one more thing for me to have to mess with. If the two piece starts to work itself loose I have to either take extra special care to clean out the threads or locktite it in and then there's the issue of needing an allen wrench to take the gun apart... I just really like the standard plug and guide.
Wichaka... $15 it is man... just send the cash, I'll get another box or so of ammo ...

A standard guide rod will work just fine.... The military used them for many years with no problems... FLGR's are just a fad... A lot of companies are selling their pistols with them because it might look better to a potential customer... They don't really do us regular joes any good(other than look cool) If you do a lot of competition shooting, they do add a small amount of weight to the end of the gun, but not much... A little more if you get a tungsten rod...
