Hello,
does anybody know a good source for after market parts for 1911s here in Germany (or countries close to G, preferrably inside the EU)? Neumann in Langenzenn is broke, so the best source dried up :(
Thanks for all useful hints!

Hey Carsten, doesn't Frankonia import any parts? I have one of their catalogs, but it is very old.

Thanks for your hint John,
but Frankonia has very much thinned out their 1911-section. The new catalogue offers only Peters Stahl 1911´s, even the "linkless" junk. Sad world! The biggest gun-dealer in Germany offers only cast-framed 1911´s. :(
The offered parts are almost only Nowlin, which means Race-gun stuff, extended Beavertails, long safeties and the like...and i´m a no-nonsense guy, although i know Nowlins an think they are really good (but too "shiny" for me.)

Peters Stahl still in business? Some years ago, I was corresponding with Franz-Josef Peters, nice fellow, he has contributed some of the material in our Technical Issues section, drawings, blue prints etc.

Hi John,
well Peters Stahl and KPS and PSW were all (at least co-) founded by Mr. Peters, but he is not member of any of these firms any more, for this or the other reason. Seems as if his smithing skills are higher than his other skills... there´s been lots of not so nice rumors.
The production standard of all Peters-related pistols seems to have improved from the beginning days, meaning they are no longer "single pieces of art" (meaning they are more in specs today). But nevertheless, as far as i know, they all use cast frames, which is just not for me.
But the German Champion in 2003 in DSB (static shooting) won both 9mm and .45 with German records (393 out of 400) with some kind of Peters Stahl pistols, so they cant be that bad (just overpriced ;-) ).
I do also see them a lot at lower-level championship, but they are often beaten by the ugly "plastic" HK (Elite or Expert).
Greets
Carsten
