I have a springfield armory 1911A1, it is pretty much GI, and the rear sight wiggles a bit. How can I tighten it? a spot of jb weld under it? stake it? would a gunsmith charge much to stake it for me? any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The rear sight cannot be staked on. Try a little red Loctite under it. It might do the trick. If it doesn't, it means that the dovetail is cut too large, or the sight is too small, any decent gunsmith can raise the bottom surface of the dovetail enough, to make the sight a tight fit. All it takes is the right tools. A few hits with a punch can raise enough metal to secure that sight in there.

The easy gunsmith way to tighten the rear sight:

Mark it's present position in the dovetial, a sharp #2 pencil will usually do the trick, just draw a witness line from the sight to the top of the slide.

Remove the sight from the slide.

Secure the slide in a padded vise, slide should be supported from underneath, I like an nice piece of wood for the lower support.

Using a hammer or mallet and a punch, place a couple of good dimples on the bottom surface of the dovetail. These need to be deep enough to upset a little metal around the punch mark.

Now replace the sight, drift it in just far enough so that those witness marks are lined up again.

The metal that was upset should be sufficient to hold the sight securely in the dovetail.
