Hi. I'm new to the board and although not new to 1911's, I am new to Wilson Combat. I ordered a stainless protector with a few extras. I am having the rear of the slide checkered, the top of the slide serrated and a blended magwell. The Wilson rep indicated that they were having difficulty getting stainless and it could take up to 4 months to get it. Has anyone else been told this? If you recently ordered a Wilson with add ons, how long did it take to get it? Thanks in advance.

I have heard this as well...however, the way you configured your Wilson Protector will be well worth the wait! If you can wait for delivery, we can certainly wait for the pics! :D

Sounds like a very nice setup. Please keep us informed and post some pics when you can. Good luck with the wait.LOL.

Have you considered buying one off the shelf and sending it to them for the customization??? I know where there is one here in Texas!!! It can surely shorten your wait time. ;)

Tex,

Thanks for the suggestion. I will call Wilson tomorrow and find out. I suspect that it might not make that much difference. I think that they have a large backlog of customization work and that that might be more of an issue than a stainless shortage.

I got lucky with mine. Some fellow backed out of a Stainless protector with speed chute. I love it. Almost 1000 rounds through it and no problems. I shot my first IDPA match with it. It shot great. Now if I can learn to shoot great along with it. LOL.

scalhoun,
I ordered my Professional with add ons and it took just shy of 5 weeks, but it was not stainless. The wait seemed like 6 months but when it was all over it was worth it. What is killing me is Cylinder and Slide has me on a 8 month wait before I can even ship my para ordance to them and they will have it 3 months. It cost me a deposit of $800 just to get a work order number and get on their wait list. Ah! The things we do to as boys to have toys.

Speak softly and carry a big bore.

Cutter,

What luck. No one around here is a dealer for Wilson. Do you have pictures posted on the site of your stainless protector? The pictures that are on the Wilson site are not that good. Sure would like to see one up closer. Might help to satisfy the fixation until mine arrives. Thanks.

Harley,

I guess the wait that I am looking at is not that long compared to yours although you do have the Wilson to console you until C&S gets caught up and you get your para completed. From everything I have seen of C&S well...that will definitely be worth the wait.
