I would like to know the proper way to remove the front sight on my springer "loaded" it has the tritium sights, and I'd like to get one of the new Fiber Optic ones from novak.
Second question is, right now my gun shoots low, so the front is too high, I measured it with my depth gauge and it's coming up .185 how much difference in POI will the smaller sights make?

The way to remove those sights is to mount the slide in a vice. Use a thick piece of leather around it, so that the jaws won't damage the slide. Then use a brass punch and a hammer to move the sight to the left. Oh, one more thing. Check that there is no hole drilled on the top of the sight, or on top of one of the bases (left or right). If there is a vertical hole (vertical to the bore axis), there might be a roll pin in there. The pin should be removable by punching it through the slide.
By the way, if you have no use for that front sight, I am interested to get it off your hands. Please let me know. Are you going to remove the rear one too?

there is a roll pin in the sight, so that needs to be driven through the slide. I wasn't sure if there was a hole all the way through the slide for this or just a detent.
I'll give it a try, thanks for the advice.
On the subject of taking it off my hands, I'll update ya on that, not sure If I'll keep it right now or not.
any advice on the height of the new sight?
