I have asked this in the Norinco forum, but I want other opinions also. Will Norinco parts interchange with other 1911-A1's or are they different? :dead_hors

Part should interchange with the exception of the grip screw bushings, which are metric threads.

Since this is the only part that differs (grip screw bushings), has anyone any idea where one can find such parts, in case someone destroys one of these?

Seems to me the solution is to retap the holes in the receiver. I don't remember if the metric bushings are smaller than the the English unit bushings or if you retap to an oversized English bushing.

I do not have a Nork Stans, so this is not a problem, I just thought that if this is the only part that differs between the standard 1911 and the Norks, people might have a hard time finding this, so if someone knows where to get it, it would be nice if it was mentioned here.

Excellent point, as far as I know, the grip screw bushings are the only odd ball part on the Norinco 1911. Tuner should chime in on this thread, he's worked on a bunch of Norinco's. Lemme see if I can get his attention.

Of the five that I own, four will accept standard screws, and one won't.
Odd, methinks...

Have you ever tried to take parts from a GI surplus 1911-A1 and install them on a Norinco? I seem to remember someone writing that the specs were close, but wouldn't interchange. That was from some publication when the Norinco's were first being imported here. Most on here seem to think they will, but i don't think anyone has said that they have tried it. The main reason I am asking is that their other clone weapons that copy the 97 winchester shotgun and the remington model will not interchange parts with the real McCoys.

Tuner, do you think perhaps the other one has had the bushing(s) tapped to a different thread? (inside) If so, odd, but one never knows the exact history
right?
