View Full Version : Armor-Tuff coating?

I have a WW2 mil-spec in parkerized. I have polished the feed ramp, slide rails, put a lighter mainspring, and extended safety. Didn't need an ambi safety not left handed. I want to put a BT safety, and skeletonized hammer spur on the weapon. Problem is that I can't find those parts in parkerizing, only SS or Blue, and neither looks worth anything on a parkerized frame. Wilson combat offers that Armor tuff coating, and I was wondering if anyone had ever had any dealings with armor tuff, is it worth it, or is it better left alone.

gottripletsNC: I have a Wilson Combat Urban Tactical AR15 with the quad rail system in Armor-tuff and it has held up quite well, actually looks brand new after slugging it around a few tactical rifle courses and my son used it when his Army reserve unit went to Fort Drumm . If you want to check into some really nice finishes contact Mike Johnson of Shooting Specialties in Chinook Montana 406-357-3132. Mike recently built me a superb custom Browning Hi-Power and I had him finish the gun in OD Green and Black. Damn thing is gorgeous.

thanks for the info, that 225 price tag from wilson is a little concern, but that 45 they show on there in armor-tuff is sweet, the main reason i need a new finish is i have changed the MSH, extended thumb safety, ordered the BT, skeletonized hammer, and extended slide release all in blue and they just dont look right on a parkerized weapon. SA can parkerize it for me for 55$ and i may go that route for now, and maybe do the armor tuff a little later, but i am interested in it, how does the finish look in person as compared to the parkerized and how does it clean?
again thank you

I heard the A-T is pretty durable but pricey like anything Wilson Combat offers.

thanks for the reply, ya I figured out that the Armor Tuff is too pricey for what its worth, I am going to go with a new coat of bead blast bluing from SA
