What exactly are my options if I've decided I don't like the way the Novak nights look on my Springer Loaded? I'd like to keep night sights, but I just don't like the look of the combat nights, they just don't flow or fit with the gun. Of course, I now have a big novak dovetail, so am I just stuck with them or something similar?

Guess I should mention that this pistol is primarily a defense pistol (eventually carry if I move out of Illinois), and adjustables would be of little use to me...

Try the Heinie sight intended for the Novak cut; it doesn't look radically different, but the proportions are different, and you get a better sight picture.

Once the slide is cut for the Novaks, there is ... no return, unless your gunsmith can reweld the slide, recontour it and then cut a new dovetail in it.

Actually looking at the pics of those Heinies, they look a lot better...

The whole rounded bottom on the Novaks and the rounded top of the slide just looks weird to me, but these Heinies look better I think. How's the straight eight sight configuration? Is it difficult to get used to versus the normal 3-Dot?

If you're taking off your Novaks, I'd like to get them from you..........if you want to get rid of them.

Something told me you'd post that... probably the other similar posts. Not a bad idea though... that could help pay for the new ones, if I decide to swap 'em out...

Wichaka is still mad at me, I got the last Novak set that someone removed from his pistol.

Well, Novak sells night sights and fiber optic sights now - U can also get MMC sights (do a google search and you can get their website). Unfortunately, Meprolight makes no sights for that cut - I checked already. There are Heinie sights, as said above, but I personally don't like those - U can also get a Dawson Fiber Optic front sight.

I don't know if U have Novak white dot or Novak night sights on your Springer - Be aware that when U buy sights straight from Novak, they look a WHOLE lot better than the crappy Novaks springfield puts on the guns. I do not like the plain white dot sights Springfield uses - the dots are not that great. But get new Novak white dot sights, and they are nice and clear (kinda like the ones S&W puts on their 1911s). Also, I have crappy night sights on my TRP - instead of a nice white outline, it has a tiny silver ring around the tritium - I cannot see the front dot on my gun at all, unless it is dark. But, Novak makes some awesome looking Trijicon night sights with a nice white outline - It's like Springfield uses Novak rejects or something.

Anyway, instead of spending another $115 on new white dots, or over $150 on new night sights (this is the price if I send the slide in to Novak), I just painted the things white myself - came out great - and saved $115!

I've got nights now, and would like to keep it that way. The only complaint about function is what you were saying about being nearly impossible to see the front sight. My real gripe is just how they look. They look like an afterthought, not a part of the gun.

Well, the Trijicon Novaks are sweet - I saw a set last weekend on an Ed Brown - Well worth the money - but it is irritating that I have to REPLACE a set of night sights on a new gun. So, I just went ahead and painted them. Now, I have VERY visible, nice white sights. And, I can SEE the front sight now. And, while it took several attempts, they look nice.

You could opt for a thinner front sight, they do make them for Novak rears.
