Looking to puchase a project gun and have come across the RIA 45. My idea is to use this as a platform for a project gun (i.e. low stress shooter) and to minimize wear to my Colt Gold Cup. I have found this on Gun Broker NIB for $290. Anybody know if this price can be beat?

Blackhawk, that is a really good price for the RIA, about the best you'll find. They range typically between $290 to $320 on gunbroker.

Blackhawk,
I agree with the Deacon,$290 is a great price.I paid $295 for my first Rock and prices shouldn't fluxuate any more or less than that.

Blackhawk, if you're buying from Bellshire I can tell you that I got great service. He shipped quickly and the gun is excellent.

You might be able to beat the price if you wait and shop around, but you probably won't save more than $20-$30. I got mine from Bellshire for $310 delivered...hard to beat that.

Get the gun...you'll enjoy it alot! I wouldn't be surprised if you Colt Gold Cup gets more of a rest than you're expecting!

thanks Just my opinion, they are mil-spec. Any conversion for a standard colt or clone should fit. Do you have full size or 4"? That should be the thing to look for the same size slide. Check with some of the more experianced guys here to make sure but I think you are good to go with a good conversion.

Got a great deal on my Rock Island. almost new for $200.00. Thinking about using it as a platform and up grade it. need to know if most of the drop in parts from McCormick will fit or am I going to run into trouble. If so, what kind of problems. I own several customs. Colt, Kimber and Springfield, but this is my first undertaking to customize my own.

I gave $340.00 OTD, but Missouri also has the Sheriffs Purchase Permit which costs $10.00...

I paid $350 out the door at a local show, wouldn't have done any better at the local shops or on-line once done with the shipping and ffl x-fer fees (they are a little pricey around here and most still charge you local sales tax as well)

$350.00 OTD is not bad considering what you get. I feel this is money well spent as far as value. The Kimber started a trend in the more expensive pistols as far as bang for the buck. The Rock is usually more than you expect from a $350.00 pistol. Some of the other manufacturers should take a look at Armscor and see what they are doing. Inexpensive pistol without being cheap.

I just looked at one for $319.95 plus tax at a nearby gun store. I hurried home to do a little research on RIA. From the info on this board, it looks pretty darn positive. Any of you experienced owners care to reveal what kind of grouping you get at 25 yards?

AK,
I certinaly don't feel cheated in anyway!
I also looked at a CD Field FS at the show for $50 more but the fit wasn't as tight and the finish didn't seem as good (it was nib, but couldn't say when it was made) and in shops around here the CD's run $100 more.

Mine shoot pretty darn goog. Look around in here at some of the post there are pictures of the "chewed up" targets. I'll pack either one of mine as a carry gun anytime.
