Hello,
I am new to your forums. I have a question regarding a Series 80 Gold Cup in nickle. Is this pistol particularly rare or collectible? The reason I ask is that if it is NOT, I would like to modify it to a service pistol. I have installed a Wilson guide rod, buffers and service spring. Also had to replace the sight retaining roll pin with a solid pin. I am wondering about replacing the special sear to a standard style sear, although I have had no problems with the current configuration. I have put over 1000 rounds thru it with no problems. What other modification would be considered necessary. To late about the finish I believe. Thanks

You don't see a whole lot of nickel GC's. I am not sure how many were made though. As far as the sear goes, you would also have to replace the hammer since a standard sear might not catch properly on those national match hammer hooks. I'd leave the sear alone. The excellent trigger pull is one of the great things about the GC.

Thanks Care-less. It does shoot nice!

Don't start changing parts because of rumours or what others do. Fire the pistol and see if there are things YOU like changed. Then you change them. If I find something useful, that doesn't necessarily make it useful for you.

Hello John,
I thank you for your reply and think you're right. I've used the pistol in amateur competition and it shoots very well. I wish I'd gotten it in blue but impulse buying is a character flaw. Now I've been looking around and gotten the bug for a tricked out pistol, with TRP features on a real Colt. Probably won't shoot any better, as mine shoots better than I can. The expense really isn't worth it. :-(
