first year super #516*

Hi Folks,I've got a mystery here.I received this super from my grandfathers estate.Prior to his death he told me of winning a magazine subscription contest for one of the hunting mags of the day.(field&stream,sports afield,fur fish and game,you get the idea.)Either this super or a colt woodsman (don't have) was the prize.Has anybody heard of anything like this out of the late twenties?I sure wish I'd written all of his info down, just wasn't on the ball I guess.Colt super is in outstanding condition in the ragged box.By the way it's not for sale, too much sentimental value.

If you are talking the Colt Super .38, then yes. Serial number 516x is 1929 production, that is also the first year of production (sn. 1 - 5850). Do you have any pictures you can post?
