I recently read an article about this ARP. Anyone have one? Opinions/ experiences? Seems like a nice enough idea for those who prefer a regular guide rod. They say it even enhances the bull barrel. Thanks for your never ending information.

It will work on any size 1911 (with a bull barrel). PD puts it in their XO model (being that it's the only model that has a bull barrel.) You can buy it separately. The article that I read said one of the big names (I'll look it up later and let you know) is using it in their compact 1911. It eliminates the need for a FLGR. I dont know why it is not making more news in the 1911 world. The article did not have anything bad to say and if it's made by PD I would think that it's good. Maybe it's because any change in the design is frowned upon by purists. I do not know and have asked in a number of places (with some knowledgable smiths) to no avail. Let me know if you find anything out.

I just know that on their website, they only list one for a commander. They are shorter than a standard one...

You misspelled the company name on the link. Here's the link direct to the product

From what I see, it consists of a closed recoil spring plug and a short guide rod. As 1911Tuner said in another post, you may use a Commander guide rod in a Government pistol, but it is not ideal (the opposite is not possible). So I guess that this reverse plug should work OK with a standard short Government guide rod, or maybe PD can offer a guide rod for the full-size pistol, to be used with this recoil spring cap (or a similar one).
With that said, I've seen similar caps which covered the vacant space between the bull barrel and the recoil rod, but somehow I believe that this is again an answer to a non-existent question. A bull barrel is supposed to matte with the inside diameter of the slide, and that inside surface of the slide is locking the barrel into place without movement (if the barrel is properly fitted). What more would the ball bearing offer?

here is where I got my info... http://www.pistoldynamics.com/FITTING%20GUIDE-Final.pdf It says it will only work in a 4in slide with a 1in hood length...

I belive that 4 inch is the size of the kimber and SA that they make it for but I know that they offer it on up to a 4.25 slide (their XO) and I have heard that you can order it for any size. It could be misinformation. I did not hear it from them myself. Maybe I'll send them an email later today.
