I just wanted to compliment this site and it's members. I don't post as much here as on the other sites, but I do peruse it a couple of times a day. I don't remember seeing any posts locked (although there might have been some that I missed) and yet the threads are always civil and friendly. I think the lack of heavy handedness by the moderators greatly contributes to the smooth operation of this forum. Again, job well done!

Thank you Sir, your opinion is greatly appreciated.

Remember, this is a gentlemen's playground, and even though sometimes we have to take some action to prevent some hot-blooded kids, this is always done in accordance to the rules, which are known to everyone, when they register.

Thank you and enjoy.

I'd just like to say this is a great forum. After working up the nerve to delve into the innards of my Para 16-40 to change the trigger and mainspring housing I quickly came to a screaching halt when I couldn't get the ambi safety off. I searched the Web for some clue as to how to proceed without luck. So I thought I would post a question on m1911.org, expecting an answer in a week or so. The very next morning I awoke to three responses and the solution to my problem. Since then I've asked several more questions of members and got fast, simple to follow and polite responses. This certainly is a playground for gentlemen. For a novice when it comes to tinkering with 1911s, my learning curve is going straight up, and I'm loving it.
As far as 1911's being the only/best guns in the world. I can see how some people can feel that way, and more power to them. But personally, I think there are a number of "best" guns depending on what the use is. For example, I have a number of S&W revolvers, and I think they are pretty cool too.

Who said the 1911 is the best/only gun???

This person was very right!!!!

OK, jokes apart, the 1911 is definitely not the only gun in the world. However, it is the best fighting pistol we have seen in a long time. Like any other tool, it has to fit the job. You can't go around wearing only your swimming suit, carrying a full-size 1911, unless you have a really big size swimming suit. A more compact firearm is required in this case. Etc. etc.

But yes, the 1911 has a lot of very enthusiastic followers!

Bottom line, John, you have a great forum here with some great people on board. I just wanted to thank you for all the help I've already received as I learn about the 1911 and the warm welcome I've been given at this site.

The 1911 is certainly my favourite gun for customizing, tinkering with and is a joy to shoot. I am in awe of the design.

Just curious what you had in mind as a carry gun when wearing a bathing suit :D

I knew this was coming, but to get it from a fellow ham????

Well, a PPK/S in a SmartCarry, that holster which hangs right in front of the most treasured part of your body! Dahhh, an stainless steel Officers 1911 is not much larger, cancel that Walther thing, make mine an 1911.
