I just read in one of the gun mags that Colt is re-releasing the original M1911 -- not the 1911A1, but the early modelwith the long trigger, no cut-outs for the trigger finger, etc.

Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh? What's anyone's idea of their potential future value if bought now? The article I saw said that they will be numbered such that a buyer could purchse one of these and one of the 1991A1 re-releases with matching serial numbers. Does anyone think a matched set of these might increase in value? If so, over what period of time?

Colt already did a run of 1911's, I think they made 1000 of them in the brushed blue finish.

Look down in the forum, and read my thread for pics/info

Price?

I'm still wondering what the collectors on the forum think might be the potential value of a pair (one 1911 and one 1911A1) with matching serial numbers. Any comments?

I am trying to figure out what is being discussed here! The 1991A1's you are referring to? Are you talking about the WW11 reproductions that were released in 02? The 1911's; are you talking about the WW1 repro's that were released in 03? The WW11's are all sold out, 4000 were made. The WW1's are more than half way through their production run of 4000. Since as far as I know these are the only true 1911's (not A1's) made by Colt; I'd suggest you get one ordered fairly quickly, or they will be all gone. There are rumors of another limited production run of 1922 commercial models, but nothing definite has come out of Colt yet.
