Any thoughts on one of these?

Looking for a FLGR that isn't two piece and that I don't have to stick a paper clip in. Not looking for a "don't bother" argument re-FLGR; I use 'em and like 'em - my mother told me it's better for the spring. Just looking for someone who's used one of these and if they work. Thinking Wilson/Kimber/EB "Pro" length. Also notice they have "flange," full shoulder," and "standard." What's the diff? Thanks in advance all!

I have them in my 1911's. One thought is that more parts there are the more chance for a breakage at the worst possible time.
I have a little arthritis in my fingers and other places so I sometimes have problems with spring removal. The tool-less FLGR is the answer to my problems. An extra bonus is that the guys at Dawson are great to deal with and 100% gentlemen. Great customer service.
Aside from the convenience and the little bit of added weight up front I am more of the opinion that FLGR's do little.
If you get one, you'll be so surprised at how fast you can disassemble your 1911.

Thanks Joni! Impressed by your expertise in previous posts; at's a roger on the arthritis too, plus I'm not fond of wrastling springs when I clean up. I don't mind the extra parts theory - I don't understand why the heck a 1911 works any more than my car anyhow with all the moving parts. Any idea on the various kinds? The center pic looks more like the setup in my Wilson and Kimber shorties - presume that's a "flange?"

Give them a call and they'll take care of you. Be careful when putting it together the first time, springs aim for eyes when released accidently.

Will do; thanks again and keep 'em in the 10X!
