View Full Version : Finally got an SR1911!!
I picked one up yesterday after trying to find one for over a year. Fit and finish is great. I am, however, surprised at the weight of the recoil and hammer springs. Both are much heavier than on any 1911 I've owned with 16 pound recoil springs. I have no way to measure but would guestimate the recoil spring to be 20 or more pounds. Trigger pull has a tiny bit of take-up but then breaks like glass. Can't wait to get to the range with it.
Range report with pics will follow, hopefully, next week.
So far I'm a happy camper.
Every 1911 should have a take-up, that's the way it is designed to be.

Ditto.
Ruger uses an 18 pound recoil spring for reasons that escape me. I'll have to enquire.

Guess I should have said it has a tiny bit more take-up than my ColtXSE or my Les Baer Premier II.

I gave up on buying a SR1911. Those guns are in short supply around here in the Northeast, and I won't pay top dollar for one on Gunbroker. If they ever show up, and I happen to see one, then I might buy it.

there's a local gunshop selling them for $650. in stock..... or, at least he had 2 the last time i was there.
BTW, I had gotten tired of waiting and had decided to give up on a Ruger and get a SA Range Officer instead. I was heading for the door to do so when I got the call for the Ruger. Luck or what!

Just noticed one on a popular retail gun site (used) for $849. Curious how long before it sells. Saw a few advertised in the Houston area "on sale" $10 dollars less than full retail. Not sure if thats on sale, but it's definitley for sale.
Congrats on your catch RJK; you'll be thrilled! Post a few pics.
850 for the SR1911 (FTF-PPT only since it's "offlist") would be a great deal in California!

If that case is how you got it, its not new in box. Ruger sr1911 comes in cardboard box included is cardura type gun pouch.

I put it in the case just to take the pic. It came in the cardboard box with all accessories and papers.
