mnfg. west hurley, ny, the only thing on the slide is model 1911a1 us army
I know it may have problems, the slide to frame fit is very good, the trigger is very nice actually....
my question is, if I want to customize/replace parts,,, as I am a wilson fan,,,, are the parts I need based on colt series 70, or what
thanks in advance

Yes, but the only different part for a S80 is the extractor (if I remember correctly) and even that will fit a standard 1911. The other way around does not work.

The West Hurley Auto Ords were all "Series 70" style pistols. How about some pics and you definitely want to test fire (that means giving us a range report) before you start changing anything.

But of course, wouldn't have it any other way!!

I had bad luck with a WWII model I bought this week, but they are by no means "all bad guns." I rebuilt a Pit Bull, of all things, a few years ago and it just may have been the most accurate 1911, at 25 yards, that has ever crossed my bench. I am talking "cloverleaves" for three shots at 25 yards- with Wolf hardball.
All this was accomplished with the careful fitting of Ed Brown match components for the Colt Officers ACP. I have had my very best results with Ed's stuff, and I still recommend it over all others.
I like my 1911's as close to the original blueprint as possible, but that's just me. If it were mine I shoot the dickens out of it, and let the gun tell ME what it needed. You might find out you have a fine shooter there already.
